Irish, English, Deep South, African-American, and Native American music gives folks new to the music craft an eye opening experience. Amazingly folks that attend our meetings and gatherings learn so much from other musicians attending.
WAFS also encourages the art of song writing. An internationally known song writing contest is held annually in Wilkesboro, on the campus of Wilkes Community College during MerleFest. We love to hear that someone in our area has written a piece of work to enter in the Chris Austin Song Writing Contest.
