ENDING NOTES: The musical world lost Charles Tesh in December 2014. Charlie was always present at musical events leading slow jams, singing and telling stories. Charlie frequently visited long term care facilities sharing his talent. RIP our friend. The musical world lost another great musician in April 2015. The Grammy Award winner and Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame member Tut Taylor passed away unexpectedly. WAFS will strive to honor your contributions to our organization. Thank you both for the music and all you taught us. Your presence will always be felt.

Wilkes Acoustic Folk Society Inc. has chosen Kathleen Nicole Burnett from Watauga County, NC and Madison Shepherd from Ashe County, NC as winners of the 2015 Duncan-Elliott Memorial Scholarship. WAFS is proud to announce two winners for scholarships to the 2015 Pete Wernick Jam Camp at MerleFest. They are Elizabeth Carter from Wilkes County, NC and Benjamin Barker from Wilkes County, NC.

GANDY DANCER JAM will return in the spring of, 2015. The free event is held at the historic North Wilkesboro Train Depot on Cherry Street in North Wilkesboro, NC. All ages: pickers, dancers, and music lovers are welcome. This is a family event. No tobacco, no alcohol, and please no pets. Handicap accessible. Free parking. Refer to EVENTS for details on all events.

Look forward to Pre-MerleFest activity beginning 2 pm Sunday before MerleFest 2015 for the celebration of music honoring Dr. T.R. Bryan Jr. The musical festivities continue the entire week at the Pickin' Place at MerleFest 2015. If you are interested in volunteering with WAFS at MerleFest 2015 contact Keith at 336.902.2570.

WAFS Events during MerleFest - 4/26/2015 - 10:00 am - 4:30 pm - Pickin
Sunday ARMBAND REQUIRED. WAFS provides three jamming tents throughout the MerleFest activities: Old-Time, Traditional, Anything Goes. Come jam with members and guests from all over the world at any time during your attendance at MerleFest. Pull up a chair and start pickin'. We also have a wooden dance floor for all you dancers. And of course, everyone's welcome to listen!

Brushy Mtn AppleFest Jammin - 10/3/2015 - 6 am till 3 pm - North Wilkesboro Train Depot Cherry St
WAFS invites you to our biggest scholarship fundraiser. $5 per vehicle parking, best place in town to park and pick. Bring your instruments and dancin' shoes and jam or just listen. Chairs provided or bring your own. Handicap friendly, please no alcohol or tobacco. Hope to see you!

Fall Jam - 10/11/2015 - 2 pm - Whipporwill Village
DATE AND TIME SUBJECT TO CHANGE, Fall Jam to raise funds for youth scholarships. Concessions will be available. Whippoorwill Village, 11928 NC Hwy 268 West, Ferguson NC. Bring your lawn chair.
